Fairy Chimneys
The Fairy Chimneys (Peri Bacaları) are the iconic rock formations that make Cappadocia famous. These unique, cone-shaped fairy tale structures have been formed over centuries through volcanic eruptions, erosion, and wind. The valley is approximately 14 km long, making it a great place for a half-day or full-day adventure.
Zelve Open-Air Museum
The Zelve Open-Air Museum is an abandoned village and an incredible example of cave dwellings. Once a thriving settlement, Zelve is now a fascinating historical site where you can explore caves, churches, and tunnels carved into the rock. It is quieter and less visited than Göreme, making it an ideal spot for those looking to explore Cappadocia’s natural and cultural heritage.
Devrent Valley (Imagination Valley)
Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, is a surreal landscape where the rock formations resemble various shapes and animals. Among the most famous formations are those that resemble a camel, a dolphin, and even human faces. It’s a great place for photography and allows visitors to let their imagination run wild as they look for animal-like formations.
Pigeon Valley
Pigeon Valley (Güvercinlik Vadisi) is named after the many pigeon houses carved into the rock formations. Historically, pigeons were kept for their droppings, which were used as fertilizer for the vineyards. You can hike through the valley, which offers scenic views and unique rock formations, as well as an opportunity to observe the traditional pigeon houses.
Red Valley & Rose Valley
The Red Valley and Rose Valley are famous for their stunning rock formations, which take on vibrant hues during sunrise and sunset. The valleys are popular for hiking and offer breathtaking views of Cappadocia’s unique landscape. The soft, pink and red tones of the valley make it a perfect spot for photography, particularly during the golden hour.
Avanos
Avanos is a charming town known for its pottery tradition, which dates back thousands of years. You can visit local workshops to see artisans create beautiful pottery and even try making your own pottery. The town is located along the Kızılırmak River (Red River), and it’s a great place to stroll along the riverbanks and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Ortahisar Castle

Çavuşin Village
Çavuşin Village is one of the oldest villages in Cappadocia and is home to some fascinating cave dwellings and churches. The Church of St. John the Baptist, located in Çavuşin, is one of the oldest rock churches in the region, with remarkable frescoes that date back to the 5th century.
