Fairy Chimneys

The Fairy Chimneys (Peri Bacaları) are the iconic rock formations that make Cappadocia famous. These unique, cone-shaped fairy tale structures have been formed over centuries through volcanic eruptions, erosion, and wind. The most well-known fairy chimney formations can be found in Pasabag Valley (Monks Valley) and Devrent Valley, where you can walk through the “rock forest” and even see some that resemble animals or human faces.

Göreme Open-Air Museum

A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Göreme Open-Air Museum is one of Cappadocia’s most important cultural landmarks. This complex of cave churches, monasteries, and chapels carved into the rock dates back to the 10th century. Uçhisar Castle

Zelve Open-Air Museum

Devrent Valley (Imagination Valley)

Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, is a surreal landscape where the rock formations resemble various shapes and animals. Among the most famous formations are those that resemble a camel, a dolphin, and even human faces. It’s a great place for photography and allows visitors to let their imagination run wild as they look for animal-like formations.

Pigeon Valley

Pigeon Valley (Güvercinlik Vadisi) is named after the many pigeon houses carved into the rock formations. Historically, pigeons were kept for their droppings, which were used as fertilizer for the vineyards. You can hike through the valley, which offers scenic views and unique rock formations, as well as an opportunity to observe the traditional pigeon houses.

Red Valley & Rose Valley

The Red Valley and Rose Valley are famous for their stunning rock formations, which take on vibrant hues during sunrise and sunset. The soft, pink and red tones of the valley make it a perfect spot for photography, particularly during the golden hour.

Avanos

Avanos is a charming town known for its pottery tradition, which dates back thousands of years. The town is located along the Kızılırmak River (Red River), and it’s a great place to stroll along the riverbanks and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Ortahisar Castle

Like Uçhisar Castle, Ortahisar Castle offers fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding region. Çavuşin Village

Çavuşin Village is one of the oldest villages in Cappadocia and is home to some fascinating cave dwellings and churches. The Church of St. John the Baptist, located in Çavuşin, is one of the oldest rock churches in the region, with remarkable frescoes that date back to the 5th century. It’s a great spot for history and photography enthusiasts.

The Fairy Chimneys of Pasabag (Monks Valley)
